Benefits of Living in Chevy Chase, MD

Chevy Chase is a Montgomery County residential location in Maryland that could easily be described as “luxury” or “semi-luxury” by those that live there. Residents enjoy easy access to a variety of amenities including ample shopping, locally beloved eateries, and Montgomery County public schools. It is also located just outside of Washington, D.C. so it’s a favorite place to settle among upwardly mobile professionals. Chevy Chase residents enjoy the very best of both worlds – peaceful, small town charm combined with easy access to all of the best the area at large has to offer.

Chevy Chase History

Chevy Chase was originally established during the 1920’s as a small but accessible street car suburb of Washington, D.C. However, the name “Chevy Chase” itself can be traced to a point (and location) situated even further in the past. In Northumberland, England there was a particular border raid (or “chace”) that occurred during the 14th century. This chace occurred at a place called Cheviot Hills. The citizens of Chevy Chase, Maryland chose to make the name their own for historical reasons. To date, there are many businesses in the area that bear the name “Chevy Chase” with pride as well.

Residents (or prospective residents) may be interested to know that Chevy Chase is – officially speaking – not just one place, despite being a small suburb with a population of around 3,000. Since the area actually partially straddles the D.C. borderline, there are two zip codes associated with the tiny city, as well as two names – Chevy Chase DC (20015) and Chevy Chase MD (20815).
