Government and Military Relocation

No matter how many times you’ve done it, PCSing can be frustrating and emotional. Every time is different. Every time has new obstacles to maneuver around. Add a time crunch and trying to coordinate the move from across the country (or the world!)… it’s enough to fluster anyone.

Take a breath.

It’s going to be okay. Military families have a unique set of needs and we understand them. We’ll listen and present options that work within your budget .It doesn’t matter if this is your first PCS or your hundredth, we’ll help you find the house and community that will make you feel comfortable and at home.

No matter where you are in Maryland, you’ll always be close to the places you want to be. Love the beach? Much of Maryland’s bay and ocean coastline is easy to get to in just an hour or two. Love the mountains? You’ll enjoy a trip to the western part of the state. What about the city? Visit Baltimore or take in the cultural wonders of Washington D.C. Philly is only a few hours away, and it’s possible to get to New York City in less than half a day. And rural, wide-open land with small towns? We’ve got that too. And no matter where you want to go, Maryland has the infrastructure to get you there, whether by car, train, light rail, or plane.

Education is an important touchpoint for many families, military and civilian alike. Maryland’s public school system is widely regarded as one of the best in the nation. Your kids will be challenged and inspired, regardless if they attend on- or off-base.

If you want to pursue your education, there are many nationally and internationally recognized universities and colleges that reside in our state including Johns Hopkins University, Hood College, and many branches of the University of Maryland.

There are so many things to think about when buying a home. Make sure that you’ve done your research and ask yourself these questions:
• Will you use the VA Housing Loan?
• How close do you want to be to base/post?
• Do you want your children to attend DoD schools?
• How important is the proximity of mass transit to your home?
• Is this the home you will retire in?
• Do you have specific housing requirements and needs (ie. a barn on the property for a pet horse, etc.)?
• If you PCS, will you sell or rent this home?
• Do the mortgage payments meet your BAH stipend?
• Is this home an investment property?
• Is being in an area with many military families important to you?

Maryland has a high concentration of government and military agencies and installations. Chances are, you’ll live in a neighborhood, take your kids to school, or attend your place of worship and find yourself with many other service members and their families—people who just “get” it.

Maryland towns and cities are military friendly; we’re happy you’re here and we want you to feel right at home!
